Sweet Summer Time

Here are a couple of shots of a lovely girl named Elizabeth. Sweet Peas was taken in the early morning summer light light. Such magic in the morning; such magic on a little girl's face noticing the colours and textures of a wild flower for the first time. A dawn.

Raspberries, of course, was taken when Elizabeth was, well, picking raspberries! Unaware of the shot, such a simple act is Beauty to me.

The West End Dog Show

Hello,

Yesterday, I photographed A LOT of doggies at the West End Dog Show! It happens in Nelson Park every year. They have a big and very popular off-leash dog park there.

The West End Dog Show was created on May 13th, 2008. This special event helps build a stronger pet community in the Vancouver area by celebrating our deep love for our dogs; and by raising money for a unique charity every year.

This year the West End Dog Show will be donating ALL proceeds from the event to the BC Guide Dog Services so they can train more seeing-eye dogs for the visually challenged people who need them.

This year there was the loudest bark contest, the softest dog contest, a dog fashion show (and all of the 'models' were up for adoption), the smallest dog and biggest dog contest (which may sound obvious but one has to be careful in assuming that a really fluffy dog is big!). I got to be a judge for the softest dog and a very gregarious schnauzer (named Quincy) won. He had the classic schnauzer doo where his back was clipped really short and had the texture of velvet. That is why Quincy won the softest dog! I will put up his portrait first.

Check out some of the doggies I photographed!
Karen.
